Zygmunt Bauman – polski socjolog, filozof, eseista, jeden z twórców koncepcji postmodernizmu – ponowoczesności, płynnej nowoczesności, późnej nowoczesności. Profesor nauk humanistycznych. Przez wiele lat pełnił funkcję kierownika Katedry Socjologii na University of Leeds, od 1990 był profesorem emerytowanym tej uczelni. Specjalizował się w teorii kultury. Laureat wielu nagród krajowych i międzynarodowych.
