Carlos Bertrand Bertrand fue presidente de la Compañía Naviera Astur Andaluza durante veintitrés años, de 1957 a 1980.
Era doctor ingeniero de Minas. Una vez terminados sus estudios, entró a trabajar en la Sociedad Metalúrgica Duro-Felguera, primero como ingeniero del Grupo San Martín y, a partir de 1944, como ingeniero jefe del Grupo de Laviana de dicha empresa.
