Carlos Altamirano Orrego fue un abogado y político socialista chileno, célebre por su polémico rol de dirigente durante el gobierno de la Unidad Popular (UP). Titulado en 1947, en el plano académico se desempeñó como profesor de hacienda pública y derecho económico en la Escuela de Derecho de la Universidad de Chile, su alma mater.
