Bikash Bhattacharjee was an Indian painter from Kolkata, West Bengal. Influenced by the politically active atmosphere of Kolkata, his works depicted middle-class Bengali life, political turmoil, and social themes in photo-realist and surrealist styles. His famous 'Doll' series (1971) was a response to the violence following the Naxalite movement. He received the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award in 1971, the Banga Ratna in 1987, and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1988.
